President
Rodney Wong
Rodney Wong, a parent of a cancer survivor, sits on the Board of Childhood Cancer International (CCI) as its President. He is also the current President of the Sarawak Cancer Children Society (SCCS). He co-founded Childhood Cancer Malaysia (CCM) and is currently appointed as their Honorary Advisor. Rod also volunteer as a Mentor with Endeavor Malaysia, a non-profit organisation that support start-up entrepreneurs and founders. He is very passionate about sustainability, serving as an Honorary Advisor with the ESG Association of Malaysia.
Rodney is the Chief Executive Officer & Board of Director of Universal Robina Munchy’s (URM), one of the largest biscuit & snack manufacturer in Malaysia. He holds an Master of Business Administration from Heriot-Watt University.

Alejandra Mendez
Alejandra is the mother of a childhood cancer survivor. After that experience, she decided to devote herself to giving every child who is diagnosed with cancer the same opportunities to survive the disease. She is currently involved at local and international levels representing the voice of parents of children with cancer. She also serves as board member of Fundación Nuestros Hijos in Chile.
Alejandra holds a degree in education and translation. She is based in Santiago where she lives with her husband and three sons.

Kate Johnson
Kate is the mother of a childhood cancer survivor. Since 2017 she has been the Chair of the Parent’s Advisory Group in the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital where she is passionate about enhancing the patient experience and raising awareness of paediatric cancer. Kate has a PhD in Sleep Psychophysiology. She is based in Melbourne, Australia where she lives with her husband and 4 children.

João Maria De Lencastre De Bragança
João de Bragança (Portugal) lost in 2001 his 7 year old daughter Madalena to a diffuse pontine glioma. He is the president of Acreditar, the Portuguese association of children with cancer. He is a mechanical engineer with a Master’s degree in Literature Theory and a doctoral candidate in the same area. After working 20 years for a multinational company he is now a full-time translator.

Bindu N Nair
Bindu N Nair is the Founder and Managing Trustee of Aroh-Giving Hope which started in 2013 in South India to help the children with Cancer in her city. Aroh now works with 40+ hospitals in India, supporting more than 5,000 children. She has 20 years of experience in Social Work and has taken the cause of Childhood Cancer as her mission in life. She also holds Double Masters in both English Language and Literature and Sociology.

Georgia Kokkinou
Treasurer.
Georgia Kokkinou is the Vice President of Floga, which is the largest parents’ association of children with cancer in Greece, representing thousands of families across the country. Through Floga, she has gained significant experience in raising awareness for childhood cancer, collaborating with healthcare professionals to promote better care and treatment for children with cancer and advocating based on first-hand knowledge of the patients’ actual needs. She is also representing Floga in CCI and participates in various projects under the Diagnosis, Treatment and Care Pillar of CCI-Europe.

Hedley Lewis
Hedley Lewis, a visionary leader is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer at CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation SA. With an unyielding commitment to improving the lives of young cancer patients and their families, Hedley leads a diverse and dedicated team that collaborates with a various stakeholders, including hospital administrators, medical professionals, volunteers, donors, partner NGOs, and full-time staff. This collective effort aims to provide comprehensive support, walking alongside patients with cancer and their families, throughout their challenging journeys.

Sidney Chahonyo
Sidney is an 18-year cancer survivor (cancer of the postnasal space) dedicated to changing the cancer landscape and is passionate about creating lasting social impact with regard to holistic childhood cancer care in Kenya. He holds a Bachelor of Business in International Business and Marketing and a Master of Science in Management & Organisational Development. He serves as the Fundraising Director of Hope for Cancer Kids, Kenya. He sits on the board of the Kenyan Network of Cancer Organizations (KENCO) and He is a member of the African Regional Committee of Childhood Cancer International (CCI). Sidney is a member of the technical working group for Childhood Cancer and a member of the TWG on Prevention, Screening, & Early Detection (PSED) at the National Cancer Control Program, Kenya.
Board Remuneration Policy:
The salaries of the employees are derived from the CAO Welfare & Social Services.
Board Members are not remunerated and do not receive any monetary compensation. However, CCI provides partial reimbursement for out-of-pocket travel costs to attend mid-year and annual board meetings. Where member organisations cover the cost of board members transportation and travel costs to attend board meetings, such reimbursed costs are donated back to CCI for regional and/or international work. Trustees do not receive any advances and/or guarantees.
The administrative expenses and reimbursements of the Board Members are stated in the financial statements.
