Enlace – Capacity Development

The Enlace programme is about assisting CCI members develop – organisationally and programmatically.

Enlace is a testament to the power of networking and best practice sharing within the global community of CCI. Initially started as “Enlace Latam”, the programme was initiated by Fundacion Nuestros Hijos (Chile), to support the development member organisations from CCI Latam. The programme has been very successful in the region, assisting many Latam CCI members build their capacity, and inspiring the CCI global team to adopt, adapt and implement it in other regions. Therefore, in 2023, with the support of CCI global and sponsored by Fondation La Roche-Posay, CCI and CCI Asia launched the “Enlace Asia”.

Enlace is a multi-stage initiative designed to consolidate the support to and among CCI member organisations across a CCI region, with guidance from CCI global. The overall purpose is to strengthen organisational capacity, facilitate knowledge transfer, and ensure the successful implementation of improved services for childhood cancer patients and their families.

Enlace is a step-by-step programme, beginning with an initial assessment of CCI member organisations, and ends with improved organisational and programmatic capacity. It follows the following stages:

  • A self-assessment to assess compliance with utilizing seven essential organisational elements (legal, administrative, transparency, and programmatic coordination, as well as others). This is to ensure to necessary basis for sustainability and growth.

  • Based on the self-assessment results, training needs are determined, as well as the appropriate tools and methods to support the knowledge transfer. Knowledge transfer can occur through participative training sessions - online or in person, sharing material, webinars, and peer-to- peer learning. Considering the strengths recognised by each organisation, a culture of sharing of best practices and peer support is created, empowering all participants to bring a relevant contribution to the development of the participating fellow organisations.

  • The last stage focuses on making the adjustments and improvements necessary to strengthen the organisations. A stronger member / member with a well develop programme assists another in an area that needs development. This involves the process of translating the knowledge gained into concrete implementation and actions.
